In the hustle and bustle of modern life, our relationship with the Quran can sometimes become secondary. We may read it occasionally, but do we truly connect with it? Here are practical ways to make the Quran a living, breathing part of your daily routine.
1. Start Small, but Consistent
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small." Commit to reading just one page or even a few verses every day. The key is to never skip a day.
2. Reflect on the Meaning (Tadabbur)
Don't just recite; reflect. Choose one verse to ponder over throughout the day. Ask yourself: "How does this apply to my life? What is Allah telling me here?" Reading a translation and a simple Tafsir can open doors to understanding you never knew existed.
Pro Tip
Keep a "Quran Journal" where you write down one verse a day and your personal reflections on it.
3. Listen on the Go
Use your commute, workout, or chore time to listen to the Quran. Hearing the recitation of a skilled Qari can soften the heart and serve as a constant reminder of Allah's presence.
4. Act Upon It
The companions of the Prophet would not move past ten verses until they had learned them and acted upon them. If you read a verse about patience, practice patience that day. If you read about charity, give something, even if it's small.
5. Make Dua with the Quran
Use the supplications found in the Quran in your own prayers. When you come across a verse of mercy, ask for Allah's mercy. When you read about punishment, seek His refuge. Make the Quran a conversation between you and your Lord.
